My opinion on presets for editing images. Sleeklens review! by Philip Navarro

I have always found that presets for digital photo editing was not for me. I know there are many people out there who will disagree with me on this and that is fine. There are plenty of positive reasons for using presets; and I am starting to realize those. However let me explain my initial thoughts on why I refused to use them in the past. Followed up by why and how I am changing my views.

I am not a wedding photographer and have always found when talking to wedding photographers they have all stated the same thing. That editing time is always an issue. But I enjoy the work of post processing editing. My images are edited in a similar fashion yet each one is different. I do that because each image to me is different; locations, lighting and subject matter change constantly for me. So I have always felt that picking out those shots I want to share, print or publish need to have extra detail to editing allowing the image to shine for myself or my client. Therefore I felt like I was short changing my creativity when using a preset that has been chosen for the masses. I wanted my images to standout and not look like everyone else's out there. Especially in todays massive social media and online photo sharing communities.

When Sleeklens reached out to me for my opinion on some of there presets I was initially hesitant. But then realized maybe this could can change my mind on preset editing. I want you to know this was not a paid review in anyway. What I liked most about our conversation was that they wanted an "honest" review. No gimmicks, no lies and no b.s. (b.s. were my words not Sleeklens). So I was all for it, what was the worst that could happen? I hate the product and say that or maybe..... just maybe I start utilizing their products in my workflow.

I recieved the "Through the Woods" workflow which included the presets and brushes. Installing the presets was simple and the instructions and videos were clear and to the point. So I was off to a good start and began experimenting with the presets within 10 minutes. I am a kid at heart so anything new is exciting. I was not prepared for all of the different options at all. The choices could please almost anyone.

I found a few presets that were more my style and stayed with those for the majority of my editing for the next few personal projects. I feel that Sleeklens is slowly starting to convert me to a constant preset user. While there are many styles offered only a select few I constantly returned to for overall editing. Yet, I have used or at least tried all of the presets offered and am finding them to be a constant starting point. What I am finding most helpful so far is that they do allow me to get a starting point and I can edit from there if needed.

Overall I am extremely happy with the Sleeklens product line. I am using the presets on a MacBook Pro with Adobe Lightroom. I feel it will take a while of constant use to determine if it will fall into my daily workflow. But for right now I am very happy using the presets and brushes with personal work for web viewing and will see how the images turn out when I print them. Make sure to follow the blog and my social media accounts for a more detailed review after 6 months of constant use.

I can honestly say that Sleeklens presets are well worth the money and if you are on the fence about using them trust me, I was there also. But please give Sleeklans a try and let me know what you think. You never know maybe you too will start enjoying a little head start when it comes to photo editing.
